Welcome to Bowlin Says

Where Insight Meets Imagination

I’m Dr. Lyle Bowlin—investment strategist, former professor, and current author. After more than four decades navigating markets, mentoring students, and exploring big questions through fiction and faith, I launched Bowlin Says to bring it all together through all of my different writing projects.

This site is a crossroads of ideas. It’s where fantasy meets philosophy, where economics intersects with ethics, and where a good story might just carry a deeper truth. If you came here for stock picking you are in the wrong place.

🔹What You’ll Find Here

    • Fiction – Sci-fi and speculative stories including Out of Time, Guardians for the Celestial Nexus, and more.
    • Faith & Higher Education – Reflections from a career in academia, shaped by belief, experience, and some hard-won wisdom.

🔹 What You Won’t Find Here – A few important notes about how I approach this space:

    • No Specific Stock Recommendations – I won’t be telling you to buy or sell individual securities. Why? Because everyone has different goals, timelines, risk tolerances, and responsibilities. One size never fits all.
    • No Blanket Asset Allocation Advice – Your financial plan should be as personal as your fingerprint. Generic portfolios don’t respect the complexity of real life—and I won’t pretend otherwise.
    • No Partisan Rants – I don’t offer Left or Right talking points. My reflections are guided by faith, experience, and a desire for honest dialogue—rooted more in principles than party lines.
    • No Market Timing Promises – I won’t claim to predict the next crash or rally. Instead, I focus on patterns, context, and long-term thinking.
    • No Clickbait Headlines or Fear Tactics – I believe in clarity over hype. If I write about risk, inflation, or disruption, it’s with nuance—not panic.
    • No AI Worship or Dismissal – I value emerging tools like AI—but I also believe in human discernment, wisdom, and good old-fashioned learning. Information ≠ Knowledge ≠ Wisdom
    • No Pretense of Certainty – I’ve spent decades teaching and investing. That doesn’t make me infallible—just curious, cautious, and committed to learning every day. My favorite expression is “There are no future facts!”
