👋 Dr. Lyle Bowlin

I’ve spent over four decades studying complex systems—from the unpredictable swings of global financial markets to the deep, irrational drivers of human behavior.

As an investment strategist, a former finance professor, and a lifelong student of belief, I have always asked the questions that textbooks can’t answer. Today, I use that lifetime of research to write essays and novels that stretch from Wall Street to other worlds entirely.

From the Classroom to the Markets

I didn’t take a straight path to academia or finance. I worked full-time while earning my first degree, ran a bookstore during the dawn of e-commerce, and returned to school mid-career to finish my doctorate.

Over the years, I’ve taught at both public and Christian universities, launched academic programs, and focused on reaching students where they are. Eventually, I stepped out of the classroom to become an Investment Strategist, building tools and advising clients to help them think more clearly about money, meaning, and economic momentum.

Why I Write Fiction

Numbers and markets only tell part of the human story. I write speculative fiction and techno-thrillers because truth often comes to life best when it is wrapped in imagination.

My novels—including the sci-fi/fantasy adventure Out of Time and the upcoming hard-sci-fi thriller The Broken Symmetry—explore the tension between order and chaos, analog humanity and digital perfection, and the profound weight of time. (Though, if you look closely at my past work, you might even find a talking golf bag or two in the mix).

My goal as a storyteller is to take high-concept ideas and ground them in the messy, beautiful, and resilient reality of how people actually behave.
