About

👋 Dr. Lyle Bowlin

I’ve spent over four decades asking questions that textbooks don’t always answer.

As an investment strategist, finance professor, and lifelong student of behavior and belief, I’ve taught at both public and Christian universities, guided financial advisors, launched academic programs, and written essays and novels that stretch from Wall Street to other worlds entirely.

Bowlin Says is my way of bringing all those strands together.

🎓 From Produce Manager to Professor to Publisher

I didn’t take the straight path to academia. I worked full-time while earning my first degree, ran a bookstore in the early days of e-commerce, and returned to school mid-career to finish my doctorate. I’ve taught in traditional classrooms and online platforms, always focused on reaching students where they are—especially the ones balancing jobs, families, and ambition.

Eventually, I stepped out of the classroom and into a new kind of teaching: advising, writing, and building tools to help others think more clearly about money, meaning, and momentum.

📘 What You’ll Find Here

Finance & Markets – I share long-term perspectives, market signals, and original tools. No hype. No stock tips. Just insight with context.

Fiction & Storytelling – My novels, including Out of Time and Guardians for the Celestial Nexus, explore identity, time, and the tension between knowledge and wisdom. There’s even a talking golf bag or two in the mix.

Faith & Higher Education – I reflect on what I’ve learned (and unlearned) across 40 years in academia and a life of belief. My nonfiction work (Navigating Higher Education, Stewarding Wealth) explores purpose in a world of distractions.

🔍 Why I Write

I believe markets move like people do—irrationally, unexpectedly, and full of potential.
I believe students thrive when education is human, humble, and hopeful.
And I believe storytelling still matters, because truth comes to life when we wrap it in imagination.
